Elected official doxxes private citizen who filed recall petition against her
Extremist school board member Terri Cunningham-Swanson has sunk to concerning lows
Terri Cunningham-Swanson is a school board member in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. She is also a member of various Nebraska hate groups including Protect Nebraska Children and Nebraskans for Founders Values. While she claims she is not a member of Moms for Liberty, she says they are a “great organization” and she was recently a speaker at one of their events. As far as we can tell, Terri Cunningham-Swanson’s only goal as school board member is to ban books she deems offensive, (which of course are almost exclusively books that address LGBTQ and racial issues). Despite massive community pushback (including a statement by her own son about her racist and hateful actions), one unfortunately unsuccessful recall attempt, and another that was just launched, Terri shows no intention of slowing her fascism roll.
When a recall petition is filed, only three people receive a copy of that filing - the County Election Commissioner, the person who filed the petition, and the person the petition was filed against. When the latest petition was filed by Plattsmouth lunch lady Sarah Slattery, it appears Terri took a picture of the filing which included Sarah’s home address and phone number and it was posted in the public Cass County GOP Facebook group by an administrator of that group. If Terri did not take that picture, it would have to be someone in the County Election Commissioners office as they are the only other people who would have a copy of the filing besides Sarah Slattery. The post included all of Sarah’s personal information as well as a picture of Sarah that Terri thinks is scandalous for some reason. Because if you think children’s books are porn, you think everything is porn. (In fact, Terri is so obsessed with porn that we would be interested to see what’s on her hard drive.) Below is the post. The redactions are ours - in the original post, Sarah’s private information was not redacted.
When Sarah asked who the administrator of the group was and asked that her personal information be removed, they mocked her, blocked her and left her personal information up in the public group. It was still up at the time of this writing. A public official doxxing a private citizen is already extremely unethical, but we have more reasons to worry about this.
As mentioned previously, Terri Cunningham-Swanson is affiliated with Moms for Liberty, which is an SPLC-designated extremist group. In July, Terri spoke at a Moms for Liberty event at the Grace Baptist Church in Papillion. Of course the subject was (what else?) PORN, or what Terri believes to be porn because she is so obsessed with it.
A Facebook group called “Support Terri Cunningham-Swanson” was started by Terri’s friend Lisa Winterstien. Lisa has removed any member who had legitimate questions for Terri and made the group private. As soon as the group was private, she started defending Moms for Liberty quoting Hitler.
“Hitler might have been a bad guy but we must admit that he was right about owning the future by indoctrinating the youth” is quite a thesis statement.
So an extremist public official affiliated with hate groups whose buddies gatekeep her Facebook group and defend Hitler quotes has doxxed a private citizen simply for filing a recall petition. This is extremely unethical and has put Ms. Slattery in danger of violence from extremists. We call on Cass County and Nebraska officials to hold Ms. Cunningham-Swanson responsible for this abhorrent behavior.
